Project Overview

Against the backdrop of the rapid development of agriculture in Africa, the importance of building food storage infrastructure is increasingly prominent. In order to enhance local grain storage capacity, reduce grain loss and improve the efficiency of the agricultural product supply chain, our company successfully completed the overall installation and commissioning of four 100-ton galvanized steel plate grain silo in Zambia in 2025. This project is not only an important implementation case of our company in Southern Africa, but also further demonstrates our professional capabilities and comprehensive service level in the field of grain storage system engineering. To maximize your investment ROI, it’s crucial to track current market trends. See our latest analysis on [2026 Grain Prices per Bushel] to decide the best time for grain discharge.”

Project Background and Customer Demand Analysis

Zambia is an important grain-producing area in southern Africa, but there are insufficient modern granaries. Farmers still use simple facilities to store grain. Mildew and insect pests are common problems. A large local agricultural cooperative hopes to build a storage system that is safe, durable, and suitable for the local climate to improve the storage quality and capacity of grain.

After several rounds of technical communication, we finally formulated a medium-sized grain storage solution for the client, which consists of four sets of 100-ton grain silo. This solution ensures reserves while taking into account flexible deployment, easy maintenance and overall return on investment.

Equipment Configuration and Technical Advantages

The 100-ton galvanized steel plate grain silo system provided for the Zambian customer this time adopts the internationally common modular structure design and incorporates moisture-proof and ventilation optimization solutions for tropical climate conditions. The main features include:

High-strength galvanized steel sheet

The steel plate adopts a high-zinc coating corrosion-resistant process, which can maintain long-term structural stability in high-temperature and strong ultraviolet environments.

Specialized ventilation system

The bottom ventilation mesh plate combined with the fan can achieve efficient air circulation and reduce the risk of mold in stored grains.

Temperature and humidity monitoring device

Real-time monitoring of grain temperature changes facilitates the adjustment of ventilation strategies at any time, enhancing grain security.

Scalable structural design

The four grain silos can operate independently or be expanded to a larger capacity based on future demands, leaving sufficient room for development for customers.

On-site Construction Process for Installation

To ensure the project is delivered on schedule, we dispatched an experienced on-site engineering team to Zambia for construction. From materials to on-site investigation, and then to installation, commissioning and training, the entire process strictly adheres to international engineering standards. The construction steps are as follows:

Preliminary data preparation and infrastructure construction

After arriving in Zambia, we first conducted multi-point measurements of the on-site foundation and, in combination with the local soil conditions and drainage planning, formulated the foundation formwork. The construction team completed the pouring and curing of the concrete foundation within two weeks, laying a solid foundation for the installation of the main body of the grain silo.

Assembly of the warehouse structure

The grain silo was joined by bolts, and the on-site team installed it step by step from the bottom circle plate upwards. To ensure structural stability, we perform laser calibration on the levelness and verticality of each circle of plates, keeping the entire warehouse body precisely rounded and highly accurate.

Assembly and lifting of the top cover

After the top cover is pre-assembled, it is lifted as a whole by a hydraulic lifting system. This technology ensures the safety and efficiency of the installation. The use of hydraulic lifting technology in high-temperature conditions in Africa also reduces the risks of manual high-altitude operations.

Installation of ventilation systems and supporting equipment

After the warehouse is completed, we immediately install the bottom ventilation system, temperature sensor, electrical control cabinet and material inlet and outlet devices. Each step has been repeatedly debugged by technicians to ensure the stability of the system operation.

Conduct comprehensive testing and deliver to customers

After all four grain silos were fully built, we conducted a continuous 48-hour load test on the silos to confirm that the ventilation uniformity, bolt sealing performance and temperature and humidity monitoring functions all met the expected standards. Ultimately, the project was successfully delivered and received unanimous praise from the client.

Project Highlights and Customer Feedback

Short installation period and high efficiency

The entire project was completed from construction to delivery in just 45 days, 10 days ahead of the original schedule.

The equipment is highly adaptable and easy to maintain

The galvanized material used in the grain silo not only suits the climate of Zambia but also greatly reduces the later maintenance cost.

The grain storage capacity has been significantly enhanced

Customer feedback indicates that after the warehouse was put into use, the rate of grain storage loss has significantly decreased, and the overall efficiency of grain processing and trading has increased by approximately 30%.

Enhance the competitiveness of enterprises

The completion of the new granary has made the agricultural cooperative more competitive in the local grain purchasing and processing market, and also laid the foundation for its future expansion and construction of a large-scale grain center.

The Promoting Effect of the project on Local Agricultural Development

This project not only helped the client enhance its grain storage capacity, but also had a positive impact on the local agricultural community. More scientific grain storage methods have reduced seasonal fluctuations in grain prices, increased farmers’ income, and promoted the further improvement of the agricultural industrial chain. With reliable storage infrastructure, local farmers are more willing to expand their cultivated areas and increase grain production, thereby promoting the sustainable growth of regional agriculture.

Summary

The installation project of four 100-ton grain silos in Zambia is once again a demonstration of our company’s strength in the overseas grain silo engineering field. From scheme design, equipment production, to construction management and technical training, we have always adhered to the engineering service standards of “professionalism, efficiency and reliability”.
